Strengthening healthcare leadership, entrepreneurship, and management capacity across Africa to drive sustainable system transformation.
The Healthcare Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Management Programme (H-LEMP) was established over eight years ago to address a critical gap in Africa’s healthcare systems — the shortage of structured leadership and management training for healthcare professionals.
Founded by Dr. Ademolu Owoyele (“D’BusinessDoctor”) in collaboration with professional bodies including the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and ANPMP, the programme has evolved from a national initiative into a continental platform shaping healthcare governance, entrepreneurship, and institutional leadership across Africa.
To date, H-LEMP has trained over 5,000 healthcare practitioners across Nigeria and West Africa, equipping them with practical leadership, management, and innovation skills needed to strengthen institutions and improve outcomes.
To catalyse transformational leadership that strengthens healthcare systems and improves population health outcomes across Africa.
To equip healthcare professionals and institutions with leadership, entrepreneurship, governance, and management competencies that drive sustainable impact.
Addressing a Critical Leadership Gap
Across Africa, many healthcare professionals are clinically competent but lack formal training in leadership, governance, management, policy, and entrepreneurship.
At the same time, workforce loss, governance weaknesses, and underutilized budgets reflect systemic leadership challenges.
H-LEMP exists to deliberately build leadership capacity so healthcare systems can function efficiently, attract resources, retain talent, and deliver quality services sustainably.
